Silky Healthy Locks for Pennies!

I am a huge fan of cheap, home-made, beauty tips & tricks. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY WORK! My hair has been insanely dry and damaged for the last couple of months. I am attempting to grow out my hair and it is FINALLY starting to show some new length! I have all over blonde high-lights and it can be very damaging to my very naturally dark hair to be re-damaged every six-eight weeks with more ammonia and harmful chemicals. So I need to take really good care of my hair so that I don't need to be cutting off dead ends every six-eight weeks, as well or else I will never have any new growth.

It's funny how we trust things more when they come pre-packaged and marketed toward us, right? But what we have to remember is that the basis of what these products contain can be found in our own pantries!

So this morning I was poking around the internet looking for tips on restoring damaged hair and I was reading about oil and the positive effects it can have on your hair and skin and I finally got the balls to try it out on my own hair! Here's what I did:

STEP 1: Pour a quarter size amount of oil into your palm and rub it between hands gently making sure to get lots on the tips of your fingers.

STEP 2: Start gently massaging the oil into the roots of your hair making sure to not scrub too hard and tangle your hair up.

STEP 3: Take a wide tooth comb and try to rake the oil from root to tip. You want each shaft of hair to be covered in oil.

STEP 4: Take a hand towel or bath towel and soak it in hot water and ring it out. Put it over oil-covered hair and twist it up to make a Turban. Let hair sit in towel for as long as you can, an hour would be ideal.

STEP 5: Take off your Turban, hop in the shower, and wash hair like usual!

I promise you wont smell bad! The oil makes your hair smell healthy, natural, and full of life. I DARE YOU TO TRY IT!

Check out some pictures I took of my hair AFTER my luxurious oil treatment!
